Members of the LGBTIQ+ community have developed high tolerance levels towards discrimination and inappropriate behaviour due to years of abuse.

Further research revealed that traditional government messaging was ineffective with this audience, making it crucial to find a more engaging approach.

To address this issue, the eSafety Commissioner partnered with Messy Collective to create a series of videos and digital assets promoting awareness and accountability.

To resonate with the target audience, we used humor to address serious themes. Australian comedian Nina Oyama, alongside LGBTIQ+ talent, headlined short videos highlighting the risks and issues, promoting the message "Play Nice, Stay Safe."

The campaign was a collaborative effort, involving scriptwriting, casting, and video production. The first phase found thousands of views on eSafety’s social media and video channels. The campaign was featured at major events like the Melbourne Queer Film Festival and Sydney WorldPride.
